Well after much whiskey deliberation last night, we executed on the plan set forth here:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

So.... next steps are to get it a full tank of gas with some de-waterer and see how that goes. If we can get the misfire code to come back we’ll try moving the coils around to see if we can isolate it to a single coil.

We didn’t quite go in that order. George spent the morning getting his OBDII adapter to pair to his laptop so he could pull the misfire count. That done... he had quite a few misfires, this time on both #1 and #4!

Result!

He also noticed his accelerator pedal position sensor wasn’t... quite right.

The green and orange signals are suppose to track each other and clearly they do not. This, apparently, explains some of his frustration with the fly-by-wire throttle in this thing. Replacements appear to be cheap but a pain to install. Still, not something that would cause the break down...

So next he popped off to a gas station, dumped in some HEET, and filled up.

On the way back the Renegade... well it was driving better than normal, apparently.

I guess we’re calling it a case of bad gas? I didn’t know that was still a thing in 2020!

Last fill-up was, apparently, on January 14th for 12.078 gallons (cutting it close!) at a random Phillips 66 in Grandview, MO, which has some pretty bad review on google.

So... KC Oppos I guess steer clear?

Not much of a conclusion, but it is the one we have. Lazy dogs, for you time.

Could be worse, they could have put diesel in the wrong underground  tank. That happened at a gas station near me last year.
